21 Day Reusable Challenge

Have you seen this challenge? Do you think there is something you could give up for 21 days? Here are some ideas.

  • Bottled water
  • Plastic shopping bags
  • Produce bags
  • Sandwich bags
  • Disposable menstrual pads
  • Napkins
  • Paper towels
  • Disposable diapers
  • Lunch sacks
  • Coffee cups
  • Disposable dishes
These are just a few ideas. Pick one thing, give it up for 21 days and next month I will ask how it went. That gives you a little more than 21 days. Also add your ideas of what you can give up below.

What a great challenge! It makes me really happy that I'm currently not regularly using any disposable items on that list - although I occasionally slip on the shopping bags, produce bags, and paper towels. I'm trying to figure out ways to buy more of my meat using my own reusable containers currently, and finding that to be quite difficult.

I admit that this summer I got out the habit of using my cloth bags. But I justified in my mind by that fact that I did not do my BIG shopping trips. I will be giving up the plastic bags again.

My commitment is to try to shop at local farms and farmer's markets and buy bulk to eliminate disposable packaging. I've been working on that this summer, and I'm getting there! Still miles to go though...

Am I evil that my first thought was, "Disposable menstrual pads? I only use them 4 days a month, so going without them for 21 days would be easy!"
