I love this post! The thing I hate most about shopping is the feeling in my stomach as I watch others shop with no regard for the environment.

Have you looked at butcher bags to keep the meat thing from happening? I hate meat to touch other things so I use those in place of the plastic bags. They are great!

Love this post. Can you add to the list the pet peeve of your grocery store selling stuff in bulk but being unable to tare out containers brought from home? And therefore charging you for the container weight?! Sigh. I also want your bulk selection, kay? ;)

Abbie - In regards to veggies. "Um, they grow in dirt."
That made me chuckle.

GB - One of these days some poor cashier is going to get an answer they really weren't looking for.

Kale - All too often I do succumb to the lure of the glossy. Make that pet peeve #5: Can't get out of the grocery store without adding a $10.00 cooking magazine to my cart. Ugh.

You're a super hero shopping in the grocery store and not succumbing to the magazines. Really the headlines are there to take your attention away from the fact that the bagger is going to repackage all your goods in plastic. That was too funny except of course it's not. One bagger told me that people complain when they don't double bag items and I've appreciated how they're just trying to do their job ever since. It used to be easier bagging groceries I'm sure. But then it used to be easier being a shopper too. Thanks for the store tour.

That's conscious shopping. I think of a lot of the same things you do. It's funny that people think veggies will get dirty or something, so they each need to be in their own plastic bag. Um, they grow in the dirt.
I'm so happy to have a freezer full of beef and pork, so that cuts down on the meat I need to buy at the store quite a bit. But I can't wait to skip the produce section again this summer!
